You may have heard of bone broth and/or collagen peptide powders. A quality collagen supplement may help:

  • Support bone and joint health
  • Boost gut health
  • Increase skin elasticity
  • Strengthen hair and nails
  • Boost immune function

Unfortunately a 2017 study found high levels of toxic metals in organic bone broth due to toxic metals in animal bones.

This of course means the bone broth powders and collagen powders on the market are also at risk of high levels of toxic metals.

In my search to find a collagen product that was 3rd party lab tested for toxic metals, formulated with types I & III, and uses hydrolyzed bovine collagen (broken down for easier digestion and assimilation), I found “Live Well” Collagen Peptides.

3 Things To Look For:

1. Quality
As a nutritionist selling CBD Oil, I cannot express the importance of high quality. I recommend looking for grass fed, pasture raised, 3rd party lab tested products. You can take the best supplement out there, but if it has toxic metals and/or pollutants in it, you may very well be doing more damage than good.
2. Hydrolyzed Collagen
When collagen is hydrolyzed it essentially means the amino acids within it have been broken down, so they’re easier for your body to absorb.
3. Diverse Amino Acid Profile
Collagen is not a complete protein. I would not recommend substituting collagen powder as a primary source of protein. Our bodies need 20 different amino acids in order to function properly. Therefore, when looking for a collagen supplement, look for one with a comprehensive amino acid profile, the more amino acids, the better.
